About me

Selena 2024 : Hi! I am Selena, I am a designer and a maker based between Paris and Barcelona. I am passionate about digital fabrication and making things in general, and I also like to share these things around me.

Selena 2025 : My name is still Selena, however I am now located in the parisian area again, where I work as a fablab manager assistant and research engineer at the Université Paris Saclay. I am also a freelance, I work with an association to provide workshops and participatory activities around digital fabrication and “making” in public spaces.

My role in the university come with “guiding” students ans users of the fablab to become independant on the machines to develop their own projects. These students are mosty studying in Licenses and Masters. While freelancing, I am not teaching, but still trying to share things with differents types of publics, from kids around 7 years old to adults and retired individuals.

My background

Selena 2024 : I grew up in the south of the parisian area in France, where I first studied Literature, and then Graphic Design and Digital Fabrication.

Until last year, I have been working as a project manager to conceive tools for technology education in highschool, in parallel I was working as a freelance with my mini mobile fablab. Today I am still working as a freelance in France, and I also teach Digital Fabrication in the Fablab Sant Cugat since this Summer.

Selena 2025 : Same background, still learning.

Field activity module 1 proyecto idea - 2025

We have a machine that is really difficult to use, because it requires a wide variety of skills and knowledge to understand beforehand in order not to break it. This is a semi industrial knitting machine, from Kniterate. The main issue is that I have no background in textile generally speaking (even though I wear clothes everyday).

So far, a PhD student in Textile Design kindly helped me to be able to use it autonomously before the summer. In order to be able to make workshops and make projects with users on this machine, I would like to develop tools to make it more accessible.

I would like to focus on the knit programmation part, that appeared to me like a massive obstacle at the beginning, it is literally learning a new language.

note for later quickly : add a picture of the Kniterate.
