About me

Hi! I am Lauren Kartzman. I teach Lower School Science, Upper School Wood Shop, and STEAM-based electives at Manhattan Country School. We’re located in New York City on the Upper West Side. I love to find ways to collaborate with my coworkers on interdisciplinary projects and enjoy getting my classes outside as much as possible.

My Background

I am fortunate to have lived in areas that provided me easy access to nature spaces: Arizona, Guam and California and helped me to cultivate a passion for environmental education. I have lived in Brooklyn, NY for the past 15 years and have been teaching for the past 11 years. I have a B.A. in Biological Sciences and a M.S. in Childhood Education and Museum Education. In addition to teaching in schools, I’ve taught in museums, led outdoor programs, and spent the past three years co-leading a STEAM class for a homeschool group at Kiddie Science in Brooklyn.
