About me¶

Hi! I am Lauren Kartzman. I teach lower school science, upper school wood shop, and electives at Manhattan Country School in New York City. I love to find ways to collaborate with my coworkers on interdisciplinary projects and enjoy getting my classes outside as much as possible.

My background¶

I grew up in mulitple locations: Arizona, Guam and California, but I have lived in Brooklyn, NY longer than any of my childhood outposts. I am fortunate to have lived in areas that provided access to nature spaces and taught me the importance of environmental activism. I have a B.A. in Biological Sciences and a M.S. in Childhood Education and Museum Education. My passion is teaching at the intersection of science and design education and challenging students to cultivate and feel empowered by their creativity.
