1. Maker culture in education

This week I worked on getting used to this documentation process.

Example sub-heading

Week 1 Assignment Reflection

In Week 1 of the Fab Learning Academy, I successfully navigated the online platform, familiarizing myself with its features and functionalities. I filled out the “About Me” page, sharing insights about my background, teaching environment, and educational philosophy. This allowed me to connect with my peers and set the tone for collaboration throughout the course.

I created a video under three minutes, where I introduced myself, showcased my classroom, and shared what my students appreciate about my teaching style. I also articulated my philosophy regarding making, digital fabrication, and the role of technology in education, emphasizing the importance of hands-on learning experiences. Additionally, I presented a personal object that resonates with the maker movement, highlighting its significance in my educational journey. The video was uploaded to a platform and linked to my “About Me” page as instructed.

In the Fab Lab, I set up the documentation environment with guidance from my instructor, which helped me understand the importance of proper documentation in the learning process. I explored various digital fabrication processes available in the lab, such as the laser cutter, vinyl cutter, and 3D printer, observing their operations and reflecting on the possibilities they offer for creative projects. Finally, I engaged in a discussion with my instructor about the lab’s policies and safety rules, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment.
