Answer the following reflection questions in your learning diary: Remember to include the code and pictures of the generated application in your learning diary.
When you design a DF learning activity, how do you take into account diversity? Could you describe one learning situation in which you did not take into account diversity in planning? How did you solve the situation? Experience is a key word here. Having an only single path to teach and learn decreases the results and outcomes in the learning experiences provided. Yes, I had different examples of not taking into account diversity and for sure not doing differentiation. For example, when it´s about to explore a concept before understanding the problem that needs to be solved. I had the problem of just letting my students research about one topic and just by providing curated websites. I noticed that not all my students were engaged with that particular part of the process. Instead they were out of focus even that the building part was a motivation for them. In the next project I provided different ways to explore the concepts and questions including the real observations and testing.
What aspects would you need to take into consideration if you have kids with a) learning disabilities, Using sensorial activities and providing different learning experiences that address other ways to understand a concept. Using auditory, visual and tactile experiences. Also explaining the directions beyond the written ones. b) physical disabilities, Make accommodations to have materials closer and support them with other peers that will help them. c) emotional disabilities, preparing the expectations anticipating what is coming and let them express feelings in different ways. when preparing your DF activities? Do you think your school is ready to a change in mindset? Why? How can you get support from other stakeholders? My school addresses different type of disabilities, especially the ones that has to do with learning and emotional needs. Thinking about it, this happens more inside normal classes but not in the special classes like STEAM, music or art where there is only one teacher with 25 students. What are the challenges and opportunities of integrating programming in your classes? There is a good connection to the internet and a limited number of devices with different features. Right now it is more as part of IT or technology class but I still don’t see a real integration of programming in normal classes like math or reading.
