Hello evverywon!

KooZexists

My name is Koos (Gosse) Hoekstra, and I live and work at the cosy and vibrant student city of Groningen, located in the Northern part of the Netherlands.

Background

Originally born and raised in Frisia, and proudly of Frisian descent. But from my latter years from high-school and onward, my educational focus was mainly geared towards the city of Groningen. After completing some degrees in vocational education, and learining basic technical skills through my side job at a home improvement & hardware store.

After that I completed my educational teachers degrees in general economics, and business economics. And went on to teach all technical subjects (like math, tax-law, MS-excel, bookkeeping, etc.) at the education of accounting at the Vocational Trade Schools in Groningen. Though I really enjoy teaching and interacting with students, guiding them as a curious inquisitor on their learning journey which I prepared for them.

Having signalled early on that our younger students are regressing in terms of general laptop/computer skills. I made and developed this WIKI to guide students in their basics computer operating skills.

After trying to resist the 15 years ongoing corporatization of our public education system from within (which has a direct correlation with the degradation of results of NL students). In my search of finding a new type of work, where I could combine the (he)art of teaching and the new generation, in an organization that has real values and Ideals (ones that are not for sale), I found out about the FabLab in Groningen. From here I met with Jan-Dirk of FabLab Groningen. And met with the enthusiastic team volunteers who maintain this independent maker-space here in Groningen. Every Friday we teach supporting technical classes “in the field” to vocational students of the education of interior design. Learning them additional (digital) creation skills, and showing creative possibilities of our tools present here at FabLab.
