Hi! I am Rebecca Jiang, I am operation manager of Mushroom cloud Maker space since 2018 from China Shanghai.

My background

My first job was at TBWA, a world-renowned 4A agency. I served clients including adidas, Unilever, Wall’s and Magnum. I took part in adidas’ campaign for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, which won a Cannes Lions Gold Lion that year — the very first Gold Lion for China’s advertising industry. In this role, I learned how to express creativity through visuals, communicate product selling points via creative ideas, and solve marketing challenges.

My second role was marketing at a prominent Hong Kong real estate firm. I engaged the innovation and startup community to drive office property sales. I loved this job, as it allowed me to stay on the cutting edge of emerging technologies and connect with highly innovative people.

Later, I joined DFRobot’s Makerspace, Mushroom Cloud. Here I delved deeper into technology. Over 8 years running the makerspace, I supported makers and built platforms for them to gain wider visibility.

I have no technical background at all. I used to be intimidated by technical learning; the barrier felt too high for me. But AI has changed everything. I’ve found that picking up new technologies is not as daunting as it once seemed.

I’m here for the FLA program because I want to learn how to encourage more people like me to approach and learn technology, so they can turn their own ideas into reality. I believe this will be incredibly rewarding, and I’m really looking forward to my studies with FLA.
