Week 2¶
Assignments¶
- [ ] Task 1: [Design and cut a sticker for my classroom]
- [ ] Task 2: [Documenting and student agreement]
Process¶
- Steps followed
- For the description of the process, I will start with the second task, which was like doing paperwork. One of them was adding my name to the bottom of the page of the student agreement in the About section. The student agreement talks about the responsibilities of the Fab Learning Academy during this course and the responsibilities of the students during the course. The descriptions were very clearn and fair for the course. So I signed with my name on the bottom of the page.
The first task was to design and cut a sticker for my classroom. This was a little difficult to think about. I tend to do things by hand so thinking about something that I “needed” wasn’t working. Later, I changed my mindset and thought what is something that I don’t necessarily need but could help in my classroom.

Reflection¶
-Based on this week experience, Which are the opportunities when integrating this technology in the classroom? How do you think it could support your teaching? - With this experience I noticed how the Fab Lab can help, not only my students but also my teaching. During this year, we were asked to have information and words as reference for students to have. This will help them get better in spelling and their reading performance. Having relevant words ready for them is useful for this goal. -Shortly describe an educational activity in which you could use a vinyl cutter. Explain how would you implement each one of the steps of the design process model explained in the Master Class. Do not forget to discuss about learning objectives. - While I was creating the vinyl stickers for the classroom tables, I thought it would be a great idea for the first week of schoool. During the first days, students help in the creation of the classroom rules. Having them done on vinyl and getting students paste them on our classroom wall would also help them be more aware of the rules and being accountable for them. -In which part of the digital fabrication continuum (DF for kids to DF by kids) would you feel more comfortable? Why? - At this stage I feel like I’m in Digital Fabrication for kids. I do have my students in mind when I’m creating things, but I am not at a stage where students’ hands are involved.
